Title: A Father's Lesson
Author: Terrabm (Siriusfanatic)
Fandom: POTC (Pirates of the Caribbean)
Pairing: None
Rating: PG
Summary: One shot, Jack and Teague. For father's day.

Captain Teague watched the brawl from his seat without a word, his heavily jeweled and bandaged hand at his mouth, watching through ink lined eyes.
Jack had started it. The boy was still young, and willful, and foolish with a tongue sharper than his sword. If only he’d learn to use it as well.
Teague did nothing to intercede. His son would have to learn to choose his battles wisely and fight them on his own, or he would never survive in the cut-throat world he’d been born into.  It would be a lesson learned the hard way. His son, so much like himself, was too stubborn to listen.
Jack cried out as he was battered ruthlessly by the other pirate, a much bigger man than himself, at least twice Jack’s age and three times his strength. Jack was quick, but not fast enough. The other man battered him around the head, sending blood spilling from his nose and lips.  While the boy stood there, stunned, the man slashed his sword across his back.
Teague sighed heavily as his son hit the floor with a sharp thud and cry of pain. Jack Sparrow laid their in a heap, dark hair obscuring his face. The larger pirate moved the bring a the sword down across Jack’s head. Captain Teague tensed, sitting up in his chair.
Jack’s nimble bare foot shot out suddenly, finding it’s resting place in the other pirate’s balls. He howled, dropping the sword and doubling over. Teague nodded and settled back in his chair.
His son was struggling to get up again when his opponet drug a dagger from inside his sash and made to stab Jack in the side. Teague’s dog was up suddenly, biting viciously at the attacking pirate. He cried and begged for mercy and eventually the Captain called off his companion. The scruffy mutt backed off docilely, returning to lay in the corner.
The captain leisurely lifted himself out of his seat and came to his son’s side where he stood, looking down at him, lying in a pitiful heap on the floor.
“Get up.” he said firmly.
Jack lifted his sore and bloody head from the floor and blinked through a swollen eye at his father’s face glaring down at him.
“Get up.” Teague commanded. Jack whimpered, his face a smear of blood and dirt and tried to push himself up on his elbows. With a cry he slumped back to the floor. His back was burning with pain from long sword wounds that were across it, his legs throbbed, his head felt split wide.
“GET UP.” his father commanded, more forcefully than before. Jack struggled to obey the captain, biting back whimpers of pain as he pushed himself up first on hands and knees, then into a crouching position. Every time he teetered or threatened to fall again, Teague would shout more. “GET UP. GET UP!”
Finally, with all his effort, Jack Sparrow stood on both legs, glaring into the face of his father, his captain. Neither said anything. The rest of the crew watched to see what would happen next.
Teague took careful steps towards his son, a small smile tugging at his lips. He clapped a hand on Jack’s bruised shoulder and grinned at him. “That’s my boy.” he said softly, proudly.
Jack’s eyes rolled into his head and he slumped forward into his father’s embrace. Captain Teague held the boy against him and then pulled out his pistol, shooting the offending pirate in the guts.
“Throw ‘im overboard.” he grunted, gathering up his son and making towards the cabin. The crew did so without complaint.

Jack laid on his stomach in Teague’s bed, his bloody and torn shirt discarded. Teague washed the boy’s bloody wounded back with a damp cloth dipped in a mixture of rum and water. His son groaned softly as pressed on the deepest part of the wound.
“Stupid boy. If you’d reign in that tongue of yours once in awhile…” Teague muttered. He stroked Jack’s tussled black hair. “It’ll be either your death or your salvation one day, my boy.”
Jack lifted his head to look back at the older man behind him and Teague laid a hand across his scalp and pushed him back down. “Sleep some more while you’re able. I’ve plenty of work for you later when we put into port.”
The boy nodded mutely, pressing his face back into the pillow. For once, he was silent.
A small snippety thing of sorts that was rolling around in my head with the other plot bunnies. Kinda for Father's Day.
I dunno I've been in a Jack mood the last few days.

No slash! Aww...well...

Hehehe "boy" and "Jackie" are his pet names. Teague's one of those gruff father's I imagine. I'm suddenly fascinated by these two.
